A Russian court has granted bail to a Greenpeace
protester from Brazil, the first foreign activist eligible to be
released from jail while awaiting trial for participating in
demonstration outside a Russian oil rig.
The court
in St. Petersburg on Tuesday ordered set bail at 2 million rubles
($61,500) for Ana Paula. Greenpeace said it would transfer the money as
soon as possible.
Thirty people aboard a
Greenpeace ship were detained following the September action.
Investigators have added hooliganism to the initial charge of piracy,
which has not been dropped yet.
Another St. Petersburg court on Monday granted bail to three Russians involved in the protest.
